Deaf Advocacy for Better Community

DABC works with organizations like yours to help make them accessible to the Deaf and hard of hearing community.

The Bay Area is home to approximately 150,000 culturally Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing-loss residents. When you make your organization or event more accessible, you will not only engage more of their community members but their sizable networks as well.

ACCESSIBILITY

MADE SIMPLE

By increasing accessibility and inclusion for the Deaf and hard of hearing community through collaboration with local organizations, we aim to make our community a better place—one in which everyone belongs.

We understand that navigating accessibility can be challenging at times; that’s why we’re here to help! We have the expertise and lived experience to make your organization or campaign a place your D/HH neighbors and their networks will want to support. We'll create custom solutions that work for you.

Our What We Do

WHO WE ARE

Founded by Sam Sepah, Deaf Advocacy for a Better Community (DABC) is for Deaf and hard of hearing citizens in the Bay Area and is organized by Deaf advocates.

WHY ACCESSIBILITY?

When you make your organization more accessible you will develop closer connections with the Deaf and hard of hearing (D/HH) community, and have a more diverse and rich culture as well.

Let's Work Together

  • Training

Make your organization more inclusive and culturally aware by learning how to better engage with D/HH employees, voters, and patrons. We offer a variety of workshops on how.

  • Campaigns

We’ll help you reach as many D/HH voters and community leaders as possible by providing training to your organization, making outreach materials accessible, and creating other solutions specifically for your campaign.

  • Policy Advising

Good policy includes accessibility. Our team has many years worth of combined experience in legislative advocacy. We can help you craft policies that align with the D/HH population while also benefitting society at large.

About

Deaf Advocacy for a Better Community (DABC) is a non-partisan, social impact organization founded by Sam Sepah, a Deaf leader who is well known in the Deaf community and works in the technology sector.

Our mission is to make Deaf voices matter. The lack of accessibility at most civic activities makes it difficult for the Deaf community to fully participate. To carry out our mission, we aim to inform and engage the Deaf community by developing and sharing resources in our native language, American Sign Language.
